Official Visit and Service Project

    I have been involved in an annual Asthma-Lung Walk which raises money for research, education, and community outreach programs on Long Island. This walk is held in May (on Long Island)during Asthma Awareness month. Since I participate in the walk every year, if anyone is interested in forming a People to People group for the event, we could discuss how to raise money for both the event & our tuition of the trip.

    On May 1st, there's Helen's Walk which raises money for people who are deaf and blind. Also, on June 11th. there's the Take Steps For Crohn's and Colitis Walk in Massapequa. It's the biggest fundrasing walk for both diseases.-Jill Mediatore

    I go to a camp in the summer on shelter Island called Camp Adventure. Its a camp for kids with cancer and their siblings, it gives them a break from reality and being sick, everyone gets to just be a kid and worry free. Its a week long sleep away camp where no one gets looked at funny for being balled, and everyone becomes very close within that week. THey have a carnival night one night and we can get/bring in toys, books, or anything that is fun to play with for kids within the age of 6-16. ~Aly Sardone

    Hi its Megan i am going to do my project on the customs of Italy Greece and Franc. Is that to many because if it is then i'll do it on the customs of Italy. I just didn't think that there would be enough in one country.

    I would like to do my project on the history of the Louvre art museum in France as well as the artists and artwork there. Don't worry, I'm not copying Tara's idea; my project will be different than hers.

    Megan-It's fine to do all 3. When you begin your research, if it seems like there's too much info, you can narrow it down.

    Brandon- What do you mean by important people? Government? Celebrities? Historical Figures?

    I would like to do my project on the endangered species of Greece that had been discussed in the geography chapter, especially the sea turles (which I believe has a role in our stay in Greece).

    Hi Jodi, I would like to research Greece and its impact of joining the European Union. Due to its present day economic crisis, I could combine all three countries because they are linked together by their common currency.
